$2.8 Billion in Energy Wasted By Leaving Computers Turned On

Saving the environment is going to take a lot of work, years and years of damage can’t be reversed overnight. But, it isn’t only the big steps that can make a difference, we can each take our own little steps in things like recycling and saving energy.

If you have a computer, you can make a difference simply by turning it off when you’re not using it. The 2009 PC Energy Report that was recently released estimates that about $2.8 billion each year is wasted by powering over 108 million computers in the United States alone.

If you have a company that utilizes 10,000 computers, you could save over $165,000 every year on energy costs. And, you’d not only save money, you’d prevent millions of tons of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere each year. It might seem like a small step in saving money and the environment, but small things add up if enough people remember to do them!
