A Green Cement For Eco-Friendly Building

Already infamous for his invention of a cement that revolutionized the repair of fractured bones, Professor Brent Constantz has came up with  another revolutionary invention. Constantz’s green cement could prove to be a big step in reducing large amounts of carbon dioxide that is released into the air on a daily basis.

Cement is literally being used in thousands of areas across the United States every day. For every ton of ordinary cement that is produced, a ton of carbon dioxide is released into the air! With approximately 2.5 billion tons being manufactured world wide every year, the manufacture of cement is responsible for around 5 percent of emissions.

Constantz who holds 60 patents mostly for medical cements, claims that  not only will his green cement produce zero carbon dioxide, it will also absorb existing carbon. Buildings made of this material located close to power plants could actually absorb carbon dioxide before it get’s into the environment.

The cement is already being produced in small quantities, but tests for strength and other qualities will be necessary before it’s approved for building codes. And, while the cost of some “green” products prevents many people from buying them, the green cement will actually cost about $10 a ton less than ordinary cement.
