Berlin Get’s Their First Solar Powered Ship

More and more manufacturers are joining the eco-friendly fight and producing more products that rely on renewable energy. SolarWaterWorld AG recently launched Berlin’s first solar powered ship, the Solon. Solon SE that produced the solar ship with zero emissions is a solar power company based in Berlin.

The ship operates from 24 solar modules that have a capacity of 5.6 KWP and are installed on the roof of the ship supplying the ship with all the energy it needs. SolarWaterWorld also owns the very first solar charging station for solar powered ships and boats in the world.

The Solon can accommodate as many as 60 passengers and will offer tours of Berlin and cruise trips. A prototype of the Solon completed it’s first crossing of the Atlantic Ocean to New York in 2006 and 2007.  More information and a picture of the Solon is available at AlternativeEnergyNews.com.
