Consumption Of Hydropower Increases 5.1 Percent In U.S.
According to a report released by the Energy Information Administration, compared with the same period in 2008, hydro-power consumption in the United States increased 5.1 percent this year. Through July, over 169 million MWh had been consumed by Americans compared to 161 million during the same time last year.
However, the largest producing states Oregon and Washington saw slight decreases in the amount of hydro-power over last years total. Washington was down to 49.5 million from 51.8 million and Oregon was down from 22.2 million to 22 million.
Over the last three years, Alabama had reported below average generation totals, but saw the largest increase this year at at almost 70 percent. And, California’s total jumped 42.1 percent over their last years figures.
