Flying Kites To Generate Renewable Energy!
With the stain that everyone around the world is feeling to develop new and better ways of producing renewable energy, various sources are being experimented with. But, who would have ever thought that you could produce clean energy from flying a kite?
But, the scientists at the Delft University in the Netherlands have done just that! They’ve actually produced wind energy by flying a large kite that is connected to a generator. And, the were successful in generating 10 kilowatts of power by flying a kite.
This 10 kilowatts of energy would be enough to supply the power for a 10 residential homes. The scientists are now setting a goal to develop a version of their new invention that will produce 50 kilowatts of energy. Their ultimate goal however, is to develop a version that will utilize multiple kites and produce even more clean energy.
With multiple kites, they’ll be able to generate 100 megawatts that would meet the energy requirements for 100,000 homes. The kite generates power by pulling a string that is connected to the generators. Once the kites reach their maximum height in the air, they’re reeled back down to start the process all over again.
