Honda Motor Company Makes Advances To Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
The American Honda Motor Company has announced that it will be using railcars to transport more than 80% of its Honda and Acura vehicles. The auto manufacturer will be using Auto-Max railcars which the company helped to design. Up to 22 vehicles can be transported on a single Auto-Max railcar.
The Auto-Max railcar is designed to last for 50 years before an overhaul is required compared to conventional transport cars which are only designed to last for 20 years. The longer longevity of these railcars will lead to a reduced impact on the environment as well as lower costs for the company.
Dennis Manns, Asst. VP of sales and logistics for Honda, said that the company is always looking for ways to minimize its emissions of greenhouse gases not only by producing vehicles that are more fuel efficient, but also by changing the ways that it transports its products.
