Minneapolis International Airport Installs 10 Wind Generators
More and more companies are joining in the fight to save the environment by doing their part to go green from products and manufacturing, to recycling and renewable energy. The Minneapolis International Airport has just installed ten wind powered electric generators and are using the power they’re producing to power a electric utility vehicle.
We all know that airports are just naturally windy places, so it just makes sense to take advantage of all this excess wind. The ten 1 kilowatt Aerovironment wind turbines are located on top of the airports fire station and are harnessing the northwest winds.
The turbines are expected to generate around 10 kilowatts of power each hour. The airports totally electric Cushman Motors e-Ride exv2 is already being ran with the electric these turbines are generating. The utility vehicle gets a range of between 45 and 55 miles and amazingly, only costs the airport around $200 a year to run.
