Needle Mountain Power Plans To Build Solar Plant

Needle Mountain Power, an Arizona based company has announced plans to construct one of the nations largest solar plants in western Arizona’s Mohave County. The company has announced that it will soon file an application with the Western Area Power Administration.

If approved, the project will consist of a 1,200 megawatt solar power plant that will be situated on 10,000 acres of land located north of Interstate 30 and Route 95. The solar facility will provide power to markets in Arizona, Nevada and California through the use of existing power lines.

The company estimates that the Sterling Solar project will create around 1,500 new jobs that will last for the six years that it will take to construct the facility. And, that it will create around 400 permanent positions that will serve to operate the solar facility once it’s completed.
