OptiSolar Opening Solar Panel Factory In Sacramento

California’s solar power industry has been growing at a yearly rate of 35% over the past four years. The state has the largest solar power market in the entire nation and will soon have the largest factory on the entire continent to produce solar panels.

An old nuclear plant called Rancho Seco, just south of Sacramento will soon be home to the solar panel factory. Several foreign companies have expressed interest in opening factories in the Sacramento area. But, the enormous factory will be developed by OptiSolar Inc. a Hayward based startup company.

OptiSolar already has around 200 employees working at the site and are expecting to eventually have close to 1,000 employees working at the new factory. The county supplemented OptiSolar with a $20 million tax incentive which helped push the decision to build in Sacramento.
