Purdue Creating Green Certification Program
With the market for clean energy jobs is on the rise, Purdue University is preparing with a green certification program. The Purdue University Technical Assistance Program, or TAP has partnered with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, or SME to create the new green program.
Any student that completes the new program will ultimately receive a Green Manufacturing Specialist Certificate. Jobs in the green manufacturing industry go beyond solar panel techs and wind turbine line workers. Almost every manufacturing employee will benefit in some way from green job training.
The curriculum will focus on topics like sustainable manufacturing, water conversation, recycling and reuse, energy efficiency and how different types of pollutants can affect the environment. The program is under development and an exam that students need to pass is being created.
