Sustainability Summit for U.S. Dairy Discusses Going Green

Among the most effective strategies to become more green is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Many companies are researching to find better ways to run their manufacturing operations to achieve lowered emission rates.

Earlier this month the dairy industry held its first meeting to discuss ways in which members of the dairy industry can become more green. The Sustainability Summit for U.S. Dairy was attended by over 250 leaders from dairy products producers and processors, government and non-government organizations and researchers.

Attendees of the Sustainability Summit for U.S. Dairy discussed various technologies used to process milk products that require less energy than current methods and other ways that the industry could become more environmentally friendly.

The Sustainability Summit for U.S. Dairy is being headed by the National Milk Producers Federation, the International Dairy Foods Association, and Dairy Management, Inc.

Jerry Kozak, CEO of the National Milk Producers Federation, said that finding ways to conserve our energy is a smart move as it will lower operating costs and please consumers who are growing more concerned about the environment.
