Wind Power Doesn’t Decrease Land Values
Currently there are over 30,000 megawatts of wind energy installed throughout the U.S. and plans for more. With all these wind projects, many residents are concerned about the impact that all of these wind farms will have on the values of their property.
A new report released on December 7, by the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Lagoratory might put those residents at ease. According to the report, the proximity of wind energy projects doesn’t have a widespread adverse effect on the values of the property and nearby homes.
The report is based on data collection of the sales of around 7,500 single family homes in area where there are wind farms. The data was gathered on homes that were situated within a 10 mile distance of 24 wind farm facilities that are in nine different states. And, covered sales that occurred between 1996 and 2007.
