World’s Largest Solar Office Building
Since China exploits coal to provide around 70 percent of it’s energy needs, it’s considered a very heavy user of fossil fuels that pollute the environment. But, China is making major changes and are steadily moving toward solar and wind power as their choice of energies.
Now, China has earned the environmentally friendly distinction of having the largest solar powered office building in the world. The building is in Dezhou, Shangdon Province located in northwest China. The building is modeled in a sun dial structure and it covers an area that is almost one half mile square.
Not only does the building have a massive solar array, green building practices can be seen throughout the building. The wall insulation and advanced roof system consume about 30 percent less energy than the countries national energy standard.
The building also utilizes solar hot water, it has a solar theme park and a solar desalination plant. Some of the buildings technologies have already been patented. The solar office building will be showcases during the 4th World Solar City Congress.
